Shuttle or Cursor for your WordPress site?

Cursor is an AI code editor for people who work in code every day. Shuttle by MoonPress is an AI workspace for the WordPress site you already have: you connect your site and ask for changes in plain words.

If your developer keeps your theme’s code as a project and releases updates themselves, Cursor is a strong choice. If you want to work on your site without that setup, Shuttle is made for you.

The short answer.

Both can change your site’s code with AI. Cursor is built for developers; Shuttle is built for the people who run the site.

Choose Cursor if

  • You or your developer work on a custom theme or plugin as a code project.
  • You want a full code editor with extensions and several AI agents at once.
  • You already have your own way to publish code to the site.
  • Cursor’s included AI models suit you, or you’re fine paying extra for Claude and GPT.

Choose Shuttle if

  • You want to work on your existing site without setting up a code project first.
  • You want the AI to start from what it learned about your site, so new pages match your design.
  • You already pay for ChatGPT or Claude and want to use that account.
  • Your marketer or SEO specialist should make everyday changes without a developer in between.

How Cursor works.

Cursor is a code editor with AI agents built in. They work on code on your computer, on a server you connect to, or in the cloud, using a copy of your code from GitHub and similar services.

For a WordPress site, that means one of two setups. Your developer keeps a copy of the theme’s code and publishes changes themselves, or connects Cursor to your server to edit the files there. Cursor has no WordPress connection of its own. WordPress.com offers a plugin in Cursor’s marketplace for WordPress.com sites and sites connected through Jetpack.

Cursor’s documentation says its agents can change files without asking and that “changes save immediately to disk”. It recommends keeping track of versions so you can go back, and commands need your approval by default.

Cursor’s plans include its own AI models. Claude, GPT and Gemini cost extra at list price from the Premium plan up, or through your own key.

How Shuttle works.

Shuttle is an AI workspace for the WordPress site you already have. You connect your site once, Shuttle learns how it’s built, and then you ask for what you need in plain words: a new page, a design change, SEO fixes or a new feature.

New pages and sections come out in your site’s own design, so you don’t wait for a designer or a developer. Nothing is installed on your website, and it stays exactly where it is.

You use the ChatGPT or Claude account you already have, and your team works on the same website, each person with their own account. AI can make mistakes, so check each change.

Where they differ.

Setup. With Cursor, someone has to set up how code gets from your site to the editor and back. With Shuttle, you connect your site once and start.

Knowing your site. Cursor works from the code you open. Shuttle also learns how your WordPress site fits together, so a request like “add a case study page” starts from your existing design.

Who it suits. Cursor is for people who read code and manage releases. Shuttle is for people who want to describe a change and check the result.

Which AI. Shuttle uses the ChatGPT or Claude plan you already pay for. On Cursor’s own plans, those models cost extra, though Claude Code and Codex can also be added to Cursor and use your own plan.

What you pay for.

Cursor has a free plan and paid plans from $8 to $200 a month. From Premium ($30), Claude, GPT and Gemini are available, billed on top at list price. Prices are as shown on cursor.com on October 17, 2026.

Shuttle costs $29 per website a month for the first 3 months, then $49. Each website includes one free guest, and extra team seats are $10 a month. Your ChatGPT or Claude plan and your hosting are paid separately. Your first payment comes with a 14-day money-back guarantee.

Questions people ask.

Can my developer keep using Cursor while my team uses Shuttle?

Yes. Agree where theme changes are made. If your developer publishes the theme from their own copy, changes made directly on the site need to go back into that copy, or the next update can overwrite them.

Can Cursor work on a live WordPress site?

Yes, by connecting to your server. Its agents save changes as soon as they make them, so have backups in place before editing a live site.

Do I need a developer to use Shuttle?

Not for everyday changes. Bigger projects and complex custom code can still need a developer. AI can make mistakes, so check each change on your site.
